The Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge takes an enormous effort to organise and simply would not be possible without the generous help of a large team of volunteers.
Volunteering on B2GC is all about learning new skills, meeting new people and having fun. There are a wide variety of volunteer roles available at the start and finish sites as well as along the bike route. Roles include general admin, distributing food at rest stops, cheering on the riders, customer service, being a marshal out on the bike route, helping load bikes into trucks, handing out watermelon and many more.
We supply you with:

- A meal (if you work more than four hours)

- Route Marshals
Route Marshals are an integral part of the traffic management plan. Marshals are the eyes and ears out on the route - an operational must for the ride. These marshals keep the cyclists heading in the right direction, warn them of hazards and generally support them on the ride.
- General Runner
Our runners are part of a problem solving team to ensure the event runs smoothly. This role requires diverse duties and a hands-on attitude.
- Rider Registration and Customer Service
Key duties include:
- Distribute the Rider Kits at the start collection point
- Provide general information on the ride
- Accepting, tagging and storing riders' bags and facilitating the retrieval of these goods
- Start and Finish Site Marshals
Start Site Marshals are based at South Bank. Finish Site Marshals are based at Southport. They are responsible for providing directional assistance for the riders.
- Rest Stop Crew
Rest Stops are where the riders stop briefly to have a quick break, something to eat, and refill their water bottles. Rest Stop 1 crew are based at Eagleby. Rest Stop 2 crew are based at Coomera State School on the Gold Coast. Crews assist with the set up/pack down of the rest stop and distribution of food to riders.
- Volunteer Support
The volunteer support assistant helps co-ordinate the volunteers at the finish site. The volunteer assistant's primary role is to assist the Volunteer Coordinator on the event day.
- Corporate Marquee Host
Sponsors, VIPs and teams purchase corporate marquee and catering packages. Hosts are needed to set these areas up, meet and greet these groups on the day and make sure everything runs smoothly.
- Finish Site - Transport
The Transport Team at the finish site assist riders who have arranged transport for their bikes and/or themselves after they complete the ride.
- Motorcycle Marshals
Motorcylce Marshals are out on the route monitoring riders and assisting the Route Manager.
